The Innovative Engine

With its 60-hour power reserve, the RD630 Calibre is a prime example of what happens when incredible watchmakers meet visionary engineers. Roger Dubuis has crafted this high-powered movement with cutting-edge performance, ground-breaking technology, and super-sleek aesthetics.

From your very first glance, you will notice that this impressive Monobalancier instantly transports you to the world of motorsport, while having a truly distinctive edge. The calibre is inspired by the shape of supercar air intakes, while the twin barrels, positioned between 5 and 7 o’clock, are another signature feature of the Maison’s Huracán watches.

Perhaps most audacious of all is the tilted balance wheel at 12 o’clock. In watchmaking, as in supercar racing, it’s the small adjustments that make the biggest difference, and here, Roger Dubuis showcases its ability to transform ordinary components into revolutionary features. The balance wheel has been given a prominent position, to match the rev counter view on the dashboard of the Huracán vehicle. But it’s the 12° angle that makes it unique. This innovative tilt compensates for the natural position of a wearer’s wrist when they place it on a table, meaning the balance wheel itself remains in a horizontal and more favourable position. This not only increases performance, but it does so without changing the watch’s proportions. For an extra touch of visual excellence, Roger Dubuis has turned the component around, allowing the wearer to view the spiral oscillations at the heart of the timepiece.

The calibre’s date display sits at 6 o’clock. Again, Roger Dubuis has found an intriguing way to maximise the design. When viewed from the back, the date-disc shows an indecipherable series of symbols. From the front, however, the disc rotates in front of a coloured decoder, revealing the digits in their clearest form.

Now turn the watch over. From the rear view, there’s one more Huracán surprise in the form of a 360° oscillating weight. Directly inspired by the supercar’s wheel rims, it performs a mesmerizing optical speed effect when it’s in motion.

The Iconic Livery

Steered towards the legendary racing colours of the 1980s and 90s, this 45mm watch is turbo-charged with its own retro spirit. The materials, however, are anything but classic. The modern approach by Roger Dubuis ensures that every detail of design is at a premium standard of performance and durability. This includes the case itself, which is made from black DLC Titanium, a strong yet lightweight material that offers optimal protection for the calibre.

The top of the case is mounted with a white bezel made from a hyper-tech material known as Mineral Composite Fibre (MCF), that is 13% lighter than carbon and 2.5 times lighter than ceramic.

Even the crown of this watch has a supercar-inspired touch. Modelled after the wheel nut of the Lamborghini Huracán, it is created with a red racing stripe and a series of winglets, which are both striking to look at and ideal for an effective grip.

Finally, the Excalibur Huracán logo is black-stamped across the caseback’s sapphire crystal.

The Tread Mark Strap

Combining comfort, style, and bold versatility, the watch’s strap is another master stroke by Roger Dubuis. Presented in blue with red perforations, the design includes calfskin leather inlays and the exact pattern of a Pirelli Trofeo R tyre on the underside’s black rubber. The addition of a Quick Release System means that the wearer can change the strap out in seconds, and give the watch their own preferred look.
